Better start working on those button mashign skills, Newground's fanatical, addictive shooter Alien Hominid has gone gold, announced today by O~3 Entertainment. The game is scheduled for the GameCube and PlayStation 2 on November 16.

This is one game every diehard fan who's come to love 2D shmup games like Contra, Gunstar Heroes and Metal Slug shouldn't pass up, period. Print and online media outlets alike have been raving about the game and has garnered an exceptionally high level of interest due to its awesome visuals and rock-solid gameplay.

"The response to Alien Hominid has been amazing," said Bill Gardner, CEO of O~3. "There is still room in the market for good, old fashioned, action games that are done right. It's no surprise this game has over six million downloads - it's truly original and addictive."

Born on the internet in 2002, a prototype version of Alien Hominid has become one of the most downloaded games of all time, with over six million downloads from the entertainment portal www.newgrounds.com, the first of hundreds of websites now mirroring the prototype. In fact, if you're new to the series, we'd suggest you warm up to the prototype first in preparation for the console version.
