O~3 Entertainment Reveals Holiday Lineup
The indie publisher drops a few details of its upcoming titles in development. Time to get excited, if you're a PC gamer.

by | November 22, 2004

Hot on the heels of its first gaming release Alien Hominid, O~3 Entertainment is gearing up to become a household name for the holiday season. The company noted it will be release a full slate of games for all the PC, PS2 and GameCube system. (Strangely enough, there's been no mention of development for Xbox.)

"This time last year we didn't even exist and now we're shipping a pretty nice lineup to retail in time for the holidays," stated Bill Gardner, CEO of O~3. "Our mission is to find the best independently developed games in the world, and bring them to market, and we are well on our way to fulfilling that goal."

"The PC is the hot gaming platform of this year's holiday season," said Bill Rehbock, general manager of content development at NVIDIA. "O~3 Entertainment's holiday line-up shows its dedication to advancing the PC as a gaming platform. By seeking out and nurturing quality content from the independent game development community, O~3 is taking the kind of risks the industry needs to continue to deliver compelling and varied gaming experiences across platforms."

By now, you should be up to speed with Alien Hominid, so we'll jump right into the other games heading our way as outlined below:

D-Day (PC)

D-Day has been designated by the "Normandie Mémoire" committee as the official game for the 60th anniversary commemoration of the Normandy landings. Developed by Digital Reality in association with Monte Cristo, D-Day challenges players to prepare troops for battle, create combat strategies, and execute one of the largest military invasions in wartime history.

D-Day drops players into the role of World War II Allied forces in the final drive to liberate Europe. Throughout three campaigns and 12 missions in single player mode, players must successfully plan and execute the turning points in the liberation of Europe. During the campaigns, players can call in the help of resistant forces to recon the landing areas, take advantage of the Allies' air power (bomber, glider, paratroopers), and stop the German forces' counter attacks.

Torrente (PC)

The international hit Torrente is an irreverent, darkly comic action shooter developed in Madrid, Spain by Virtual Toys and based on the top-grossing films of the same name. Torrente is a sexist, drunk, and dirty cop who soon finds himself caught in the crossfire between drug cartels and the Mafia. Now he must blast his way through street thugs and hit men battling for control over Madrid's seedy underworld.

In missions ranging from Madrid to Marbella, Torrente must complete a variety of tasks such as escorting an important client, deactivating bombs, and protecting beauty queens, generally with chaotic and bloody results.

World Championship Tennis (PC)

Enter the world of professional tennis and become the champion you always dreamed of being! This revolutionary new title not only lets you hone your grand slam skills, you may import your own photo and actually become one of the players in the game. Enter the heat of competition, win money, and climb up the rankings.

Yes, we know what you're thinking -- everything above caters to the PC audience. We're just as curious as you are to hear what they have in the works for the console and handheld platforms. O~3 notes that they'll be making more announcements about its upcoming titles in development for release next year. Stay tuned.
